How we work
BERCEAU specializes in planning and designing high-performance and environmentally sensitive buildings. We believe that by focusing on sustainable design principles, we are able to create healthy, productive and cost-effective indoor environments while helping our natural environment. We work interdisciplinary. Architects, landscape architects and engineers work side by side with shared responsibility and common goals to create the best overall solution for the customer. The two disciplines run close pairings from the beginning and all the way through all project phases of a project. With the two consulting disciplines in the same house, a mutual interdisciplinary understanding is achieved, which enables BERCEAU to provide strong ‘full service’ teams that optimize the entire construction process.
Integrated design
BERCEAU takes care of the client’s needs at all design and design stages. We call it integrated design. There are several advantages to this approach:
- Simplicity, because the overall design task is solved with one partner and only one contact person who is close to the project at all stages. One builder one advisor. This makes the dialogue easy and the process smooth and efficient both for the client and for the other parties in the project.
- High quality, because from the beginning of the project the architect and engineer have a common understanding of the nature of the task. This provides space for continuous, creative and iterative processes where several solutions are tested, and the best solution is found. At the same time, the buildability of the project is ensured from the start, so that there is consistency between the intentions on the artboard and the practical execution, which considers interfaces. This ensures the builder’ value for money.
- Time saved, because the different disciplines have direct access to each other in the daily dialogue and can easily clarify project details. Design takes place in one house, by colleagues who know each other already, have a common approach to the task and work according to well-defined processes on the same platform. The early and close coordination also ensures that the buildability of the project is co-conceived from the start, as our ongoing interdisciplinary quality assurance minimizes corrections and mis-design.
- Safety, because BERCEAU has all the expertise ‘in house’ and this in a volume that always ensures project staffing in all phases of construction. – Safety in pricing, because the close pairing between architect and engineer during the design phase leads to better quality assurance and documentation, minimizing the risk of costly defects on site during the behavioural phase.
